Here We Go!

Train with Motivation, Satisfaction, and Fun

Here We Go Dog Training, LLC specializes in teaching dogs the life skills they need to be excellent companions and partners. Having a dog who makes your home a friendlier place and your outings more enjoyable takes more than obedience; it takes a confident, well socialized pup who understands how to be a dog out in the world.

We prioritize clear interspecies communication and building a strong relationship between you and your dog. That means we want a foundation of trust and fun! Accordingly, we employ rewards-based training, which is all about teaching learners what to do humanely and kindly. Here We Go deliberately incorporates playful interaction into all teaching and learning so your dog does not merely do as you ask, but enjoys making good choices in response to cues. We like a dog who is motivated to behave well!

Returning clients, especially those with puppies and adolescent dogs, will really love the Explorer and Scholar Tracks! These sessions lay a strong foundation for your dog so good choices, confidence, and essential behaviors become habits. With Jessie’s guidance, your Explorer will get enrichment, exercise, and time to be a dog in the world; your Scholar may work on walking nicely on leash, greeting politely, and being an all-around good citizen. About Jessie

Jessie Gurd (she, her, hers) has been training dogs professionally since 2016 and taught humans of all ages for over 10 years. She grew up around animals and first learned about animal behavior from a variety of dogs, a few extraordinary cats, and some truly kid-wise ponies. While in graduate school, Jessie found herself increasingly involved in dog training and eventually shifted her goals to working with dogs and humans in the Madison, WI area.

During that time, Jessie worked at Dog’s Best Friend Training as a lead trainer for puppy, family dog obedience, agility, parkour, tricks, and play skills classes. She also taught private lessons and worked with dogs one-on-one  to achieve their training goals. Her specialties include building play skills for training and emotional wellbeing, and working with smart, active dogs who require quick thinking and lots of creativity. When not with her fantastic Here We Go clients, Jessie is proud to serve as the Dane County 4-H Dog Project Behavior and Veterinarian Director.

Consequent to her time as a doctoral student and an undergraduate-level instructor, Jessie values ongoing education. She regularly pursues opportunities to hone her skills as a trainer and teacher. She is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA), a certified parkour instructor/title evaluator through the International Dog Parkour Association, a Karen Pryor Academy Puppy Start Right instructor, and a member of Force-Free Trainers of Wisconsin.

At home, Jessie and her partner enjoy the company of four wonderful, active dogs. They play in agility, flyball, dog parkour, and canicross, along with a smattering of tricks training and formal obedience skills for fun.
